Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart. Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise.

Welcome to GoTell Communications. The purpose of this site is to encourage and enable people to follow Jesus' third way through listening, learning and telling stories of the biblical tradition. The future of our global village depends on it.

Telling By Heart

Use this site to learn how to internalize a biblical story and tell it by heart. Why bother? Read the article on "The Case for Telling by Heart" listed under Feature Articles. Hear stories told by heart from the lectionary (Lections) or specific Gospels (Narratives). In these sections of the site you will also get background info to help you understand the story, tips for telling it effectively, and slides for digital presentations.

New at GoTell

In mid-May we traveled to New York. Tom met with the faculty at New York Theological Seminary to discuss biblical storytelling and the development of biblical scholarship and teaching for post-literate culture. In early October the current plan is to do an evening of biblical storytelling with the Introduction of Old Testament class at NYTS and a lecture/workshop for the Chitos lecture series. NYTS is the site of the origin of the Network of BIblical Storytellers.

Tom and Amelia also had a luncheon conversation with Chuck Stetson about the Bible Literacy Project and the NBS Seminar. We discussed the inclusion of biblical storytelling in the teaching of biblical literacy by performing biblical stories from the King James Bible and soliloquies from Shakespeare as an introduction to the origins of the English language. This is timely since the 400th anniversary of the King James BIble is approaching in 2011.

Grace and peace,
Amelia
